The purpose of LCA:
- To inform, educate and train our members for action on current issues that call for progressive activism;
- To publicize a few specific issues (e.g., reparations in New Jersey, immigration rights in Lawrence Township and Mercer County, awareness of policing practices in Lawrence Township, the ACLU’s “Let the People Vote” campaign, Reclaim Our Vote’s postcard initiatives in southern states, etc.) and then to create sustainable “action teams” to work on;
- To sponsor or co-sponsor community events reaching an ever larger number of people with our message;
- To connect with other progressive groups for mutual support and to be an active member of the Central Jersey Progressive Coalition;
- To provide the necessary support and encouragement to each other in staying positive and keeping up our energy for the long struggle for justice.
